Munshiganj, Dec 28: Two individuals have been detained in connection with the tragic accident on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway toll plaza, where a bus collided with a private car and a motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of six people.
Superintendent of Highway Police for the Gazipur region, AKM Akhtaruzzaman Bosunia, confirmed the arrests.
However, he did not disclose when the arrests were made.
He said, “There were two staff members on the bus. We have learned that one Nurunnabi was driving it. The arrests were made during joint operations by the Highway Police and RAB. Their identities are currently being verified, and further details will be provided later.”
He added that preparations are underway to file a case with the Keraniganj police station regarding the accident. This time, the case will target the bus driver and others involved in the incident.
On Friday, a Kuakata-bound Bepari bus struck a stationary private car, motorcycle, and microbus at the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway toll plaza, killing six people.
Although the bus was seized after the accident, its staff fled the scene.
